Chris Youlden joined the BBC in 1968 as a Technical Assistant, and after training at Wood Norton moved to Bristol Communications Department. He worked on many Outside Broadcasts during the years in addition to Control Room and Bristol Communications Centre duties.
Following a spell as Supervisor he was promoted to Communications Planning and Operations Manager with responsibility for OB communications links and lines in the South and West, and the Communications Centre.
In 1992 he moved to BBC South in Southampton as Operations Manager, followed by Manager Resources in 1998. He retired in 2003.
